The first Linux Beer Hike (a.k.a. "LBW") was held August 7 - 14, 1999 in Eastern Bavaria, Germany. Linux users from around the world brought their laptops and gathered together to hike, learn Linux, and visit the local brewpubs. Experts in Linux and the Bavarian outdoors taught classes during the day and everyone enjoyed the local pub scene at night. Here are the details from original website:
